Biography
Peter Lamb was born in London in 1925. He started composing before he could even read music, using his own system of symbols to represent the keys of the piano. He studied composition at Trinity College of Music, and subsequently with composer Arthur Benjamin, and was awarded a Fellowship of Trinity College for his first String Quartet.
He combined a busy career as a professional composer with music administration, initially working for Erwin Stein at Boosey and Hawkes and then two international record companies, Deutche Grammaphone and CBS records.
During this period Peter was working with stars such as Leonard Bernstein and Pierre Boulez. He was thrilled to meet Stravinsky during this time.
